[08/09/2009 12:34 am]

Fendi is an Italian fashion house best known for its baguette handbags. It was launched in 1925 as a fur and leather shop in Rome, but today is a multinational luxury goods brand owned by LVMH. Karl Lagerfeld is the creative director.

As a Fendi handbags aficionado, do you know anything things about Fendi Handbags? If you do not know, let us study it together.

History

The Fendi name came into existence after Adele Casagrande married Edoardo Fendi. Together, they created the Fendi name for their shop in central Rome. In 1965, Fendi designer Karl Lagerfeld created the "double F" logo. In the world of fashion, the logo became an international symbol. Today, the company uses the logo on all Fendi handbags.

Details

A Fendi bag is designed and manufactured by hand. No Fendi bag is a production-line item. Straps are made of leather. The stitching on the bag is even and straight, with the threads matching the leather. The zipper is perfectly aligned, and the bag is evenly shaped. Buckles are always square, never rounded or oddly shaped. The Fendi logo is engraved into the leather or may be part of the cloth design.

Types

Fendi bags come in every style possible to go with any type of clothing. There are clutches, baguettes, wallets, half-moon bags, bucket bags and gathered handbags. Sizes vary, including the 8 1/2-inch wide Mini Mama to the larger 18 1/2-inch wide Chef bag. Each season, Fendi introduces a new line of bags.

Fendi lines

Furs

Fendi's internationally renowned line of fur helps to differentiate the brand from its competitors as one of the few designers with a full range of fur offerings. Naomi Campbell was fired from her position as a People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals spokesperson in 1997 for wearing fur at a Fendi fashion show.

Fragrances

Fendi launched its first perfume, Fendi for Women, in 1985. The line has been expanded to Theorema Uomo and Fendi Uomo (for men) and Celebration, Asja and Fantasia (for women).

Eyewear

Fendi's eyewear line currently includes prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses in addition to non-prescription sunglasses.

Timepieces

Fendi currently licenses out their name for their watches, which feature Swiss movements.
